Character Education Program

We champion the development of good character and servant leadership as a foundation that helps individuals and organizations to flourish. We believe that character is at the heart of what makes us human. We cannot be in a position to raise a good society or even good families without having individuals who have good character.

Putting Character First

Good Leadership is central to the flourishing of organizations, society, and the natural world. Our leadership and character development programs integrate proven character-based strategies to help students, educators and leaders to navigate complexity and uncertainty, enabling them to lead across boundaries and contribute positively to the organizations and society.

Character Education in Schools

The Character Education Program offers practical research driven strategies designed to steer working relationship between parents, teachers and communities in the interest of nurturing good character and morals into the lives of the young people. The Character.org states that “good character consists of understanding, caring about, and acting upon core ethical values.” Character Education refers to systematic initiatives that foster character development of the young people. In our Character education program, we support educators and learners to internalize, practice and model values/virtues.

In the modern schools setting, there is a need for stakeholders’ collaboration in educating for character in order to address the increasing rate and multi-faceted issues which are affecting the institutions. On the other hand, effective Character Education is grounded in building positive relationships, development of school culture and has to be informed by research and theory.

In our Character Education Program, we have adapted the PRIMED framework (Six Design Principles for School Improvement) to empower educators with effective Strategies of implementing Character Education in schools and higher education. The acronym PRIMED stands for: “(P)rioritization, (R)elationships, (I)ntrinsic Motivation, (M)odeling, (E)mpowerment, and (D)evelopmental Pedagogy.”

“Schools are not buildings, curriculum, timetables and meetings. Schools are relationships and interactions among people” David and Roger Johnson.

Cultivating Virtues for School Leadership

At the Centre for Character and Leadership, we design and deliver leadership and mentorship programs for student council, non-teaching staff and teaching professionals.

Our Cultivating Virtues for Leadership (CViL) has a set of eight virtues: noble purpose, humility, gratitude, foresight, empowerment, forgiveness, future-mindedness, and courage. Grounded in a servant leadership framework, CViL is designed to guide educational leaders on a personal and professional development journey. A journey of self-discovery and appreciation, to build a new perspective on educational leadership, a commitment to ethical and caring decision-making, and the skills necessary to lead people and schools of character.

Good leadership is central to the flourishing of students in schools. Our Cultivating Virtue in Student Leadership program aims to raise a new generation of wise thinkers, caring individuals, and servant leaders. Through this program, we provide a clear pathway for student council/ prefects to develop essential leadership skills, foster a sense of responsibility, and cultivate virtues that will guide them throughout their lives.
