2nd Africa Regional Conference
Join us in Nairobi to Reimagine the Purpose of Education
Cultivating Virtues for Leadership Among Educational Leaders in Colleges and Universities.
About the Conference
The Centre for Character and Leadership will host the 2nd Africa Regional Conference from August 26-28, 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. The conference invites scholars, educators, policy makers and practitioners to reflect on how to intentionally promote cultivation of virtues and character strengths in contemporary educational contexts.
The main aim of this conference is to promote cultivation of virtues for leadership (CViL) among educational leaders. Grounded in a Servant Leadership framework, CViL promotes the cultivation of key virtues including humility, noble purpose, gratitude and courage to support educators in becoming effective and ethical leaders.
The conference creates a platform for research dissemination and professional development of educational leaders to research, learn and impact mentoring-based practices in order to foster character and values education, servant leadership, and education for human flourishing within and beyond the institutions of higher learning in Kenya and Africa region.
In this Conference, organizations in Africa that were previously funded under the Global Innovations for Character Development (GICD) by the Templeton World Charity Foundation (TWCF) will have an opportunity to share the research findings.
The conference provides a great opportunity to inaugurate the Association for Character Development in Africa (ACDA) and discuss future prospects of holding annual character development themed conferences.
