Centre Director Presents at the Association for Moral Education Conference, Tampere, Finland
On 7th-9th August 2025, the Centre Director for the Character Education Programme, Peter King’ori attended the 51st Association for Moral Education Conference hosted at Tampere University, Finland. The conference brought together researchers, policy makers and practitioners from over 40 different countries across the world under the theme ‘Caring about and for others: Teaching & Learning to Care.’
During his recent attendance, Peter shared his research titled ‘Cultivation of Character Strengths Among Adolescent Students Through Positive Intervention.’ He emphasized the great need to foster the development of character strengths such as humility, gratitude, forgiveness, courage, and self-control among adolescent students.
He added that the cultivation of character strengths has the potential to motivate students and enable them to do what is ethically right, become more democratic, socially responsible, and act in productive ways. Thus, adolescent students need to be given a space to internalize, practice, and model character strengths.
Also, Peter is currently serving as the Board Member of the Association for Moral Education and Chairperson of the Poster Award Committee. Â He was privileged to work together with other Committee members to review and assess the quality of research published on the poster presentations and nominate a winner. The Association for Moral Education gives the Poster Award for outstanding Poster presentation addressing important topics in moral development and education.
